I kicked off the driving this today and am very pleased to report there was no loss of life of any wildlife whilst I was at the wheel. On the way this morning we passed through Hay. The Hay Plains were just amazing - so flat and vast. I never imagined so much space...
There was a bit of wind blowing whilst driving and we just loved watching the tumbleweeds blow across the road - rather like oversized Santa's (does everyone else call those little white fluffy things Santa's or is it just me??)
Day 2 saw a stop at Mildura skatepark - the 2nd stop on the skate across Australia tour. Both children had a quick skate before heading to Renmark - our stop for the night.
On the way to Renmark we found 1 of the Black Stumps (apparently there are 11 in Australia) and a very unusual looking toilet - would hate to have to sit on it...
So we are now at Renmark, all setup camping at Plush's Bend down on the Murray River, this is a beautiful spot, lots of space and shady trees. Just a few minutes out of town and less than a km down a dirt road. There are toilets here however I recommend you have your own. You can camp here for 7 days free of charge. It's really a nice spot, so quiet, the only noise is the rustling of the leaves in the gentle breeze! The kids have had a quick splash in the river but weren't too keen on not being able to see the bottom - too used to the beach I think.
