Not another rock!

We've been gone for 2 weeks now and whilst it feels like we've been gone forever the time has gone slowly too.  Days seem a lot longer over here in the west.  We are all having a great time and look forward to each days new adventures.

Sorry this blog is along one - 2 days rolled into 1 blog and we've done so much its hard to keep it short - so many beautiful photos to share....

After an interesting 24 hours in Lake King we were on the road again and heading to Albany.  Not a long drive compared to some of the distances we have been covering of late.

We stopped and had morning tea at Roe Park at Jerramungup at the Skatepark.  The kids were itching to add this park to the list of parks skated on the skate across Australia tour.  Such a funny park, it was so tiny, the drop in ramp was so low, Dave managed his first ever drop in here.

We had morning tea and then moved onto Albany arriving here around lunch time.  The sun was shining and the park is beautiful - highly recommend Emu Beach Caravan Park.  We quickly setup and then headed to the beach - the park backs onto the beach, our van site is about 100 metres to the beach access point.   The beach is literally littered with shells.  I was able to embrace my inner child and spent the next hour or so collecting mermaid shells of all different colours and sizes.  The sound of the water washing over them is one of my favourite sounds ever - I loved it!!

Here is a sample of some of my treasures.

Tom cooked dinner and we ate it in the beautiful BBQ area.

After dinner we headed down to our beach to watch the sunset.

The end of a beautiful day!

The sun dawned another beautiful day for us here in Albany so we headed off to Walpole and Denmark - some 130ish kms away.

First stop on today's magical mystery tour was the Valley of the Giants Treetop Walk.  The boardwalk is suspended off the ground - 40 metres is the highest point.  It is only held in with anchor pegs into the ground below and as such moves A LOT!!  If you suffer a little vertigo - DON"T LOOK DOWN!

Once you have wound your way around the top of the trees you then head down to the floor of the forest which has lots of tingle trees - the inside of the tree has been damaged by either fire, insects or fungus but the top of the tree still survives.  Some of these trees are massive.  The timber is a beautiful colour, they are really lovely trees.

We finished at the Valley of the Giants and went for a drive and found the worlds widest Eucalyptus Tree.  It was massive.  There were pictures on the boards at the beginning of the boardwalk that showed cars being parked inside it.

Next stop on the magical mystery tour was Conspicuous Beach.  We got a little lost trying to find it but found ourselves at Peaceful Bay - a beautiful spot to have lunch and a game of soccer on the beach.

We weren't ready to give up yet so tried again and this time successfully found Conspicuous Beach.  It was 175 stairs down to the beach, once down there it was a lovely beach although very windy. The kids had a great time sliding down a massive sand dune and using the reeds as ropes, I think they have brought half the beach back home with us.

From here we headed back to Denmark stopping at Greens Pools - such a beautiful spot.  The water was crystal clear.  Both the kids had a snorkel in and around the rocks and saw some fish.  There weren't very many people there today although I can imagine in holiday time it would get packed!!  Again it was very windy down on the beach but so pretty!

Back in the car and around the corner to Elephant Rocks - more rocks!!  A little disappointing as they didn't really look like elephants.

Dave is pretty keen for a surf - we've carried his board all the way from home however it hasn't come down off the roof yet.  We pulled into Mutton Bird Island (one of the surf spots in the area) and well the surf was non existent.  Dave will have to wait yet another day for the surf.

Michelle you would have been proud of me - I even managed a small amount of 4WDriving to get us down to the beach.

We all returned to camp somewhat tired tonight so it was home made camp pizza for dinner tonight and off to bed!!  Quiet day tomorrow, Dave and the kids are hitting the skate park early and then who knows after that...
